Most people start with centralized exchanges to purchase their crypto and may later use a decentralized exchange to obtain coins or tokens they could not obtain from their centralized exchange – more on this later..
Below are some trusted centralized (company owned) cryptocurrencies exchanges and on-ramps:
For Beginners I suggest: Coinbase - One of the first and most secure exchanges in America. Coinbase offers a clean, simple way to buy and sell cryptocurrency with enhanced security. Creating an account with Coinbase also creates a Coinbase Pro account, which gives users advanced charting and trading options, giving superior control for advanced traders (has you learn you will use this). Coinbase allows you to link your debit or bank account to purchase the available cryptocurrencies in your state. You can buy as little has 5 dollars of any coin and up to certain limits depending on how much proof of ID you provide. This exchange is secure enough that you could leave your crypto here if you wanted to just buy, hold and keep it simple. Sign up @ Coinbase and earn $10 in BTC when you buy or sell $100 worth on their platform within 180 days (6 months). They have have an earn section of their site that you can watch 2 min videos and gain free money in crypto.
or
Gemini - This is another trusted exchange based it New York and was created by the Winklevoss twins. They app allows you to buy, sell, store crypto and additionally you can earn some interest while you hold them. They also have in-app QR code that can be generated to spend your crypto at participating partner locations. You can try their app using my link and you'll receive $10 after you trade $100 in 30 days.
Other Centralized exchanges (Foreign Exchanges / May need additional tax forms, contact your advisor for more information):
Kucoin - KuCoin is a cryptocurrency exchange based in Hong Kong. This exchange isn't regulated by the US and this means more risk. US-investors are not listed as prohibited from trading. If you are a US-investor, however, you should still always analyze yourself whether your home state imposes any obstacles for your foreign cryptocurrency trading. The exchange has one of the world’s most impressive trading pair selections, with more than 300 trading pairs. This is not suggested for beginners who wants to HODL (hold for dear life or in other words - hold for long term investments).
Decentralized exchanges (will need to explain this in more depth)
SpookySwap (Fantom / Opera)
Uniswap/SushiSwap (Ethereum)
PancakeSwap / BurgerSwap BCS (Binance Smart Chain)
Earning Crypto WITHOUT actually investing in Crypto:
Nexo.io - This crypto bank is leading the banking industry in adopting crypto in their platform. From high interest savings, to now a exchange and most important a credit service based on your wallet. Nexo currently offers between 5% to 12% on stable coins and several major cryptocurrencies. The power behind is: Compounding interest - very powerful. You earn these high interest daily and your money is not locked up - you can withdraw at any time. Compared to traditional banks, its a no brainer. Earn 10% daily compound interest now by signing up, providing your license info and sending your crypto to their 'Top Up' addresses. Currently US customers can't earn interest on new deposits.
Brave Browser - Earn BAT simple by enabling rewards in this crypto friendly browser. Same backend technology as Chrome but with more features like ad blocking and earning BAT rewards instead.
This devices provide a wallet that you own, not on an exchange. They are more secure than a wallet in your browser, like MetaMask, because they require physical touch before any transaction. Maybe apps and sites like MetaMask have compatibility with these devices (it varies, do your own homework)
Ledger (recommended, either S or X version)
Trezor
